Article summary

I am a business owner or property manager with a Workplace location. How do I get started with Tap?

Can I set different tariffs for staff, management, and visitors?

Yes! You should first set a default tariff at your location - this will apply to all visitors by default. Then you can manage discounted tariffs for staff, management, etc. by creating Driver Groups.

You can create as many Driver Groups as you like. You invite drivers to a group using their email. Each Driver Group can be assigned a special tariff. You can do this by navigating to:

Location > Tariff > Manage tariffs for specific users with driver groups

How do I prevent random passersby from charging at my location?

Often at workplace locations, you want chargers available for your staff and visitors, but you don't want to advertise them to the general public.

There are 2 ways to handle this.

Option 1: Open access but hidden from map

  1. In Location Access, select Tap Users.
  2. In Location Visibility, select Only Nearby Users, and choose your Visibility range.
  3. Optionally, link QR stickers to your charger so that people can quickly find them in the app.

This setup will ensure that only people that already standing in front of your charger (such as your residents and visitors) are able to see it in the app and start a session.

Pro: "Set it and forget it."
Con: Technically anyone can still charge at your location if they happen to find that you have a charger. So if you are for example in a very high traffic area it might not be the best solution.

Option 2: Driver Group at Location Level

  1. In Location Access, select Driver Groups.
  2. Select Manage Driver Groups, and add all of your staff to the group using their emails. Each staff member will receive an email letting them know they have access to the location.

This setup means that your chargers will be closed off from the general public, but all staff can charge at all chargers.

Pro: Complete control on who can charge at your location.
Cons: You always need to add visitors to a Driver Group.

Tip: when adding visitors to a Driver Group, use the "Auto-remove" option, so that you do not have to remove them manually. Handy for temporary guests at the location.

Can I easily expense my workplace charging?

Yes! The easiest way to do this is to order a Tap driver subscription. When you have a Tap driver subscription, we send you a monthly invoice of all your transactions, which can be submitted as a single expense. Check out our Driver Quick Start Guide for help on ordering a subscription.
