EVBox Onboarding Guide

This guide describes how to onboard EVBox chargers with Tap.

Onboarding in this context means getting the charger communicating with Tap. If you are looking for a complete guide for setting up an account and configuring your locations, see our Quick Start Guide.

This guide applies to any EVBox charger that uses the EVBox Connect app, namely the Elvi, BusinessLine (4th generation), and Iqon. If the charger is an older generation and does not use the EVBox Connect app, it may not be possible to connect the charger to the Tap platform. You can find a detailed video on using the EVBox Connect app here.

  1. In the Tap app: Locations > connect new charger

  2. Select EVBox.

  3. Copy the URL provided.

  4. Open the EVBox Connect app and find your charger. Note down the charger's modem ID, which is the EVB-XXX number in the Select Your Charger list.

  5. Enter the charger's security code, which came with the supplied folder in the charger's packaging. Press Authorize.

  6. Enter the Charger Access Control menu.

  7. Activate "using charge fob/key".

  8. Disable "Auto-start".

  9. Click on Installer Mode.

  10. To enter Installer Mode, you need to enter the charger security code again. Press continue.

  11. Click on Charging Management Platform.

  12. Select "Different Backend URL". Paste the URL you copied from the Tap app and click save.

  13. Click Select to enable the Tap URL.

  14. Click Save.

  15. Click Reboot the charging station.

  16. Return to the Tap app. After a minute the charger should appear and you can proceed with onboarding.
