Mennekes AMTRON/AMEDIO onboarding guide

Easily connect and configure your Mennekes AMTRON and AMEDIO chargers to Tap Electric’s free charger management platform with this guide.

Onboarding in this context means getting the charger communicating with Tap's charger backoffice. If you are looking for a complete guide for setting up an account and configuring your locations, see our Quick Start Guide.

To connect a Mennekes charger, you will need to be physically located at the charger with a laptop. You will connect to the charger using a micro USB cable.

1. In the Tap app: Locations > connect new charger

2. Select Mennekes.

3. Copy your unique URL from the Tap app or webportal.

4. Connect the charger to your laptop with a micro USB cable.

5. Open a web browser on the laptop. Enter the URL: http://192.168.123.123

6. Login using the following credentials:

  • Username: operator

  • Password: (see datasheet that came with the charger)

7. Navigate to Backend > OCPP. The next step depends on whether you are using a wired (LAN) internet connection, or a Tap SIM card.


Wired/LAN Internet Connection

1. Select "Ethernet".

Tap SIM Card

1. Select "GSM".

2. Navigate to Network > GSM. Fill in this field:

  • Access Point Name (APN): Tapelectric

3. Click Save.


After connectivity is set

1. Navigate to Backend > OCPP. Your OCPP ChargeBoxIdentity (ChargePointID) serial number will be auto-populated and left as it is.

2. Set OCPP-mode to "OCPP-J 1.6".

3.In "JSON OCPP URL", paste the URL you copied in Tap.

4. Click Save and Restart.

5. Return to the Tap app. After a minute the charger should appear and you can proceed with onboarding.
