This guide describes how to onboard Mennekes AMTRON and AMEDIO chargers with Tap.
Onboarding in this context means getting the charger communicating with Tap. If you are looking for a complete guide for setting up an account and configuring your locations, see our Quick Start Guide.
To connect a Mennekes charger, you will need to be physically located at the charger with a laptop. You will connect to the charger using a micro USB cable.

In the Tap app: Locations > connect new charger

Select Mennekes.

Copy the URL provided.

Connect the charger to your laptop with a micro USB cable.

Open a web browser on the laptop. Enter the URL: http://192.168.123.123

Login using the following credentials:
Username: operator
Password: (see datasheet that came with the charger)
- Navigate to Backend > OCPP. The next step depends on whether you are using a wired (LAN) internet connection, or a Tap SIM card.
Wired/LAN Internet Connection
- Select "Ethernet".
Tap SIM Card
- Select "GSM".
- Navigate to Network > GSM. Fill in this field:
Access Point Name (APN): Tapelectric
- Click Save.
After connectivity is set

Navigate to Backend > OCPP. Your OCPP ChargeBoxIdentity (ChargePointID) serial number will be auto-populated and left as it is.

Set OCPP-mode to "OCPP-J 1.6".

In "JSON OCPP URL", paste the URL you copied in Tap.

Click Save and Restart.

Return to the Tap app. After a minute the charger should appear and you can proceed with onboarding.
