Flexicharge onboarding guide

Onboarding in this context means getting the charger communicating with Tap. If you are looking for a complete guide for setting up an account and configuring your locations, see our Quick Start Guide.

To connect Flexicharge chargers, you will need to be physically located at the charger with a laptop and micro USB cable for the onboarding.

1. In the Tap app: Locations > connect new charger

2. Select Flexicharge.

3. Copy your unique URL from the Tap app or webportal.

4. Open up the charger and locate the controller. The next step depends on whether you are using a wired (Ethernet) internet connection, or a Tap SIM card.

Tap SIM Internet Connection

1. Place your Tap SIM card SIM slot of the controller.

2. Connect the laptop to the charger with a micro USB data cable via the available port on the front of the controller

3. Open a web browser and enter the following IP address in the URL bar: http://192.168.123.123:81

4. A login window will appear. Login with these credentials:

  • Username: operator

  • Password: yellow_zone

Once logged in, it is recommended to change this password.

5. Click Network

6. Enter Access Point Name (APN): Tapelectric

7. Click Save

8. Click on Backend and enter the following:

  • Type: GSM

  • OCPP ChargeBoxIdentity: any value you like

  • Websockets JSON OCPP URL: paste the URL you copied in the Tap app

9. Click Save and Restart.

10. After the controller comes back online, check the following:

  • Connection State (Modem): APN session duration [time]

  • Connection State (Backend): Connected [heartbeat]

If the connections states appear as above, the charger has succcessfully connected to Tap.

11. In the Tap app, after a minute the charger should appear and you can proceed with onboarding.

Wired/Ethernet Internet Connection

1. Connect the laptop to the charger with a micro USB data cable via the available port on the front of the controller

2. Open a web browser and enter the following IP address in the URL bar: http://192.168.123.123:81

3. A login window will appear. Login with these credentials:

  • Username: operator

  • Password: yellow_zone

Once logged in, it is recommended to change this password.

4. Click on Backend and enter the following:

  • Type: ETHERNET

  • OCPP ChargeBoxIdentity: any value you like

  • Websockets JSON OCPP URL: paste the URL you copied in the Tap app

5. Click Save and Restart.

6. After the controller comes back online, check the following:

  • Connection State (Backend): Connected [heartbeat]

7. In the Tap app, after a minute the charger should appear and you can proceed with onboarding.
