EVBox onboarding guide

EVBox is closing its operations. Switch your EVBox Everon backoffice to Tap Electric’s free backoffice to keep access to your chargers.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Onboarding in this context means getting your EVBox charger communicating with Tap's free charger management platform. If you are looking for a complete guide for setting up an account and configuring your locations, see our Quick Start Guide.

The Everon platform was shut down on December 1, 2025. Bulk migrations via the Everon platform are no longer possible since all stations have switched to offline mode. Migration must now be done on-site at the charger.

An EVBox charger can be connected to Tap Electric if it is from Generation 3, 4 or 5. Not sure which generation your charger is? Check this article from EVBox: How can I identify the generation of my AC Station and what are my configuration or migration options?

Finding your Backoffice URL in Tap

Regardless of the generation of your EVBox charger, you will need your backoffice URL from Tap to paste into your EVBox. Follow the steps below to find this.

1. In the Tap app or webportal: Locations > connect new charger

2. Select EVBox.

3. Copy your unique URL from the Tap app or webportal.

Your next step will depend on the generation of your EVBox:

Gen 3: Businessline Gen 3, HomeLine

Gen 4: Businessline Gen 4, Elvi

Note that Gen 1, Gen 2 and Gen 5 (Livo, Liviqo) cannot be migrated to Tap.

EVBox Gen 3

These older stations cannot be migrated via app. An installer must connect on-site via cable using a specific tool. Many installers already have this tool, you can check with your local installer if they can help.

EVBox Gen 4

  1. Open the Connect app and connect to the charging station:

    1. Select Start Pairing

    2. Select your Station ID and Select Pair > Continue

    3. Enter the security code of the charging station

    4. Select Authorize > Continue

  2. Select Installer Mode and enter the security code again

  3. Make sure that the charging station has the latest firmware. If the station does not have the latest firmware version installed, or if the current firmware version is not displayed, do the following steps:

    1. Select Update Firmware

    2. After the firmware update is complete, repeat steps 1 and 2

Important: G4 BusinessLine and Elvi stations must have firmware v425

  4. Make sure that the station is set to work in online mode:

    1. Enable the option Set charger to online

    2. Select Save

    3. A pop-up may appear, requesting that the station be rebooted. The new settings are applied after the reboot

  5. Repeat steps 1 and 2

  6. Select Charging Management Platform

  7. Select your backend from the dropdown list or enter a different backend URL, then select Select.

  8. Select Save and reboot the station

  9. Return to the Tap app. After a minute the charger should appear and you can proceed with onboarding.
